Working deity extends Willy Tay’s exploration of the “Deity” figure, now aged and rendered ambiguously with multiple faces symbolic of gods and goddesses.

It questions whether the figure is divine, authoritative, or symbolic, reflecting how power and belief evolve over time.

By presenting a human, imperfect deity, Tay invites viewers to consider how societies create, reinterpret, and ascribe meaning to figures of authority.
