Description
This book was published in commemoration of GAO XINGJIAN EXPERIENCE – Gao’s retrospective exhibition in Singapore 2006 and his first in Asia – a joint effort between Singapore Art Museum and iPRECIATION. Aspiring to international acceptance, modern and contemporary Chinese artists such as Gao Xingjian have opened their minds, souls and palette to Western techniques and styles and yet maintained their core identity and heritage, resulting in some truly phenomenal and revolutionary works that set an increasingly high bar for future artists
The exhibition Gao Xingjian EXPERIENCE features 60 of the Nobel Prize winner’s remarkable ink paintings created between 2002 – 2006. The publication is accompanied by essays by Dr Quah Sy Ren, Chong Wing Hong and curator Patricia Ong.
