Description

Boo Sze Yang, born in Singapore in 1965 has devoted his life to painting. His works have traveled the world in both solo and group exhibitions to Asia, the United Kingdom and the U.S.A.

He has painted mundane domestic objects, car crashes, sacred temples for the gods, and interiors of mega shopping malls. In recent years, Boo has explored portraiture. A painter not bound by any tradition or style, he treats banal objects, interiors of modern architecture and destructive scenes as metaphors for the human condition.

This first monograph on the artist documents his work from 1995 to 2014. It includes biographical details and a survey of his oeuvre. Essays by Kwok Kian Chow, Michael Lee, Seng Yu Jin, Ian Woo and Wong Shu Yan meditate on Boo’s artistic expressions and preoccupations.
