Description
Published in conjunction with Hung Liu’s first solo-exhibition in Singapore, Hung Liu: Old Road, West Wind, this publication features all 16 of her exhibited art works. Hung Liu was born in Changchun, China, and works and teaches as a Professor of Arts in America. A highly acclaimed professional artist, Hung Liu’s works revolve around feminine subjects extracted from her collection of turn-of-century photographs from China. Using the washed-out, sepia toned photographs as canvas, she continues to overlay them with rich colours and tones, incorporating traditional Chinese motifs of flowers and plants, merging the past and present into a single entity.
This publication also includes a comprehensive essay about Liu’s contemporary art by Dr. Emily J. Sano, director of Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
