An Evening with Nobel Prize Winner Gao Xingjian

SINGAPORE- 23rd November 2007 will be an evening to remember as friends of iPRECIATION got together to meet Nobel Laureate Gao Xingjian at his exhibition preview and private dinner hosted by iPreciation in his honour. The evening started off at 7.00PM where guests gathered at iPreciation for a preview of Gao’s latest ink paintings (2005 – 2007). Gao interacted with the guests who were eager to learn more about his captivating ink works.

Dinner was at The Straits Room (Fullerton Hotel) and it commenced with a welcome address by director of iPreciation, Helina Chan followed by a brief speech by Mr. Gao. Later, Dr. Mabel Lee, Honorary Associate Professor in Chinese at the University of Sydney and translator of Gao’s novels Soul Mountain and One Man’s Bible, also gave a holistic presentation about Mr. Gao’s works in Gao Xingjian’s Explorations in Fiction, Theatre, Art & Film. The presentation provided a succinct introduction about Gao’s multi-faceted achievements in the arts.

Distinguished guests also brought home with them a limited-edition catalogue of Gao’s exquisite paintings, specially autographed for each one of them. The smiles in the pictures say it all!
