SINGAPORE- Bringing our artists beyond the region, iPreciation’s first American art fair venture will happen next March 2008 in the “Big Apple”, New York! Following the successful Bridge Art Fair Miami, the New York fair will run concurrently with the Armory Show at the Waterfront building, popularly known as “The Tunnel”.

Five of the most prominent Chinese and overseas Chinese artists will be exhibited including JU MING, GAO XINGJIAN, CHEUNG YEE, ZHANG JIAN-JUN and YE JIAN QING to showcase the vibrant development of Chinese art.

Some of the finest sculptural works from the Taichi series by JU MING will be displayed. Expressing the “soft techniques” characteristic of the ancient martial arts through his skilful sculpting, free-flowing motions of the Taichi art are propelled to life with impressive pieces such as the Taichi Single Whip which will be on exhibit at Bridge Art Fair. Ink paintings by Nobel Laureate GAO XINGJIAN are captivating materializations of his imaginative mindscape. Allowing music to lead him into a creative state, Gao can spend days straight to complete a painting with little or no rest in between. In 2007 alone, Gao has held immensely successful exhibitions in Europe (Ludwig Museum, Koblenz, Germany), North America (Snite Museum of Art, Notre Dame University, U.S.A.) and Asia (iPreciation, Singapore). Drawing inspiration for his works from “Yi Jing”, Four Spirits by CHEUNG YEE is one of the esoteric sculptures to be displayed at Bridge. A well-respected pioneer of modern Chinese sculpting and conferee of the Member class of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), he is reputed to have carved the way for several sculptors of later generations. His sculpture, cast paper and wood relief works will be on display. Read more about Cheung Yee.

Sculptural art and oil on canvas painting by ZHANG JIAN-JUN and YE JIAN QING respectively will also be exhibited at Bridge. These contemporary overseas Chinese and Chinese artists create art that is strikingly unique in today’s Chinese art scene and have won international recognition for their artistic talent. Zhang was recently commissioned to create his remarkable scholar rock sculpture for the Golden Globe Awards Party 2007 while Ye had sold-out exhibitions at iPreciation 2004, 2005 and the Exchange Square, Hong Kong in May 2007.
