Born 1936 in Guangdong Province, China. Studied art and design in the United States from 1961 to 1965. Assistant curator at the City Museum and Art Gallery from 1966 to 1974, and senior/principal lecturer at the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic from 1974 to 1984. Participated at the Sao Paulo Biennial in 1961, First Exhibition of Asian Art in Bahrain in 1982, the Shanghai Biennial in 1998, and “China 5000 Years” Exhibition of the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Bilbao in 1998 and 1999. Work represented in the collections of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, the Changzhou Art Museum, the British Museum, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Minnesota Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of the Harvard University in Massachusetts, the Museum fur Ostasiatische Kunst in Berlin, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. Now Adjunct Professor of the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and serving as honorary adviser to the Leisure and Culture Department of the Hong Kong Government, Committee Member of the Art School of the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and member of the Museum Advisory Group of the Consultative Committee on the Core Arts and Cultural Facilities of the West Kowloon Cultural District.
